Description:
Today ( November 16, 2007 ) marked the Grand Re-opening of the D.I.A. This shot is the ceiling in the Great Hall ,with thousands of little mirrors attached to pieces of string trickling down from the ceiling. The D.I.A. first opened in 1885 on Jefferson Avenue and moved to this location on Woodward Avenue in 1927. The Great Hall is the first room you enter after coming into the museum through the Woodward Entrance. There are 5 sets of Coats of Armor on each side of the room. The collection in this museum exceeds 65,000 works ( and over 100 galleries ). I am extremely familiar with the museum, walked it for 4 hours today, and still missed a great deal of it. I'll have more pictures of the interior soon, in the mean time if you wuold like more information please go to www.dia.org .
